MULTICOLOR GOLD PLATED RECTANGULAR COINS ON MYTHICAL CREATURES





This set of six attractive gold-plated multi-colored rectangular coins features mythical creatures.  Included is a dragon, centaur, fairy, mermaid, unicorn and phoenix.  The coins are 45mm x 26mm and come in individual capsules. 




  
GEOMETRIC ITEMS SHAPE COINS
In the quest for something totally different to mark the Year of Mathematics in 2008, the Somali Republic authorized the issue of a legal-tender coin set of five One Dollar 3-Dimensional geometric coins. The coins are in the shape of a cone, sphere, cube, pyramid and cylinder.  The silver plated coins are embossed with the arms of the Somali Republic, dated 2008 and are denominated 1 Dollar each.  Each coin is approximately 20 millimeters to 25 millimeters in each dimension. Only 500 sets were minted.





COUNTRY MAP SHAPED COIN





Somalia released a six coin set of map shaped coins for 2013. Each coin is shaped in the outline of a country. It appears they picked the countries with the largest numbers of active coin collectors. Each map shaped coin is decorated with a design from the nation’s flag.  Included are Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Russia and United States (without Alaska and Hawaii). The multi-colored coins are approximately 38mm (1.5 inches) long.  The coins are dated 2013 and are denominated 1 Dollar.  The date, denomination and arms of Somalia are on the back.





MOTOR CYCLE SHAPED COIN

The Federal Republic of Somalia issued silver-plated multi-colored coins shaped like motorcycles. The designs are based on Harley-Davidson and other popular motorcycles. The coins are dated 2007 and carry the denomination of 1 Dollar. Each coin is approximately 45mm (1.75 inches) long and 25mm (1 inch) high.





SPORTS CAR SHAPED COIN

These 2010 multi-colored coins from Somalia are shaped like famous sports cars. The Coins red Ferrari and yellow Porsche The obverse includes the Somali arms, date and denomination.  The silver plated coins are approximately 45mm (1.75 inches) long.







GUITER SHAPED COIN

 

The multi-colored silver-plated guitar coins are designed after famous electric guitars. The coins are dated 2004 and were issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Rock 'n Roll. The designs include the classic red & white Fender Stratocaster and blue Gibson X-Plorer. These 1 Dollar legal tender coins issued by the Somali Republic. They are approximately 45mm (1.75inches) long.






ANIMAL SHAPED COIN






Somalia continues to issue some of the wildest coins around. In 2008 they released a set of six multi-colored coins depicting North American wildlife - in the shape of the animals. The silver-plated coin 1 Dollar coins include a Polar Bear, wolf, buffalo, moose, mountain lion and Grizzly Bear The animals are depicted in color on one side of the coins. The denomin-ation, date and arms of the Federal Republic of Somalia is on the other.

COINS ON EGYPTIAN HISTORY




In ancient times Somalia was a major trading partner with Egypt.  To celebrate the recent traveling King Tut exhibit, Somalia issued a series of five multi-colored gold-plated 38.6mm featuring some of the highlights of King Tutankhamen’s tomb. Included are The Gold Mask,  Statue of Ptah, Scarab Pectoral Necklace, Statue of Horace the Elder and The Udjat Eye.  The attractive designs are enhanced with deep color overlays that replicate the colors of the actual objects.   The 250 Shillings coins are dated 2008 and are Proof.

MULTICOLOR APPLIQUE COINS ON CHINESE ZODIAC
This set of 12 Somalia 250 Shillings coins features 12 popular breeds of dogs.  Each coin has a multi-color applique picturing a different breed. The obverse features the Somali Arms.  The 39mm copper-nickel coins are dated 2006, which was the "Year of the Dog" in the Chinese zodiac calendar.   Included are a Yorkie, a small white Scottie, Rottweiler, Cocker Spaniel, Dachshund, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Old English Sheep Dog, Basset Hound, St. Bernard, Wire Hair Terrier and a Bulldog.
