Falkland Islands has issued this Silver and Crystal 1 Crown Coin on the
life cycle of a butterfly, from egg to caterpillar, to chrysalis, to butterfly.
The 2012 dated coin consists of a 38.6mm, 22 gram sterling silver ring
surrounding an engraved orange crystal depicting a Southern Painted Lady
Butterfly. The butterfly spends the summer months in the Falkland
Islands. The coin has a mintage limit of only 5000 pieces and comes in a case
with a Certificate of Authenticity.
