ACRYLIC COIN
Crescent Island (Ile Crescent) is supposedly located in international waters between French Polynesia, Kiribati and Pitcairn Island. It has a population of about 40. Its economy is based on pearl farming and selling crafts to the occasional yacht that stops by. In 2006 they issued this unusual acrylic coins, both to use on the islands and to raise money by selling them to collectors. The coins are 39mm in diameter, 5mm thick are made from colored translucent acrylic. Coins have a design featuring the sun rising over the island, with the date and denomination at the bottom. The denomination is 1000 Poa with a mintage of 503 pieces.The coin comes with certificate.
