PALALIKU

PALALIKU is a tiny dot land of 418 Acres in the region near North Andaman Island in the Indial Ocean. This remarkable silver Larin from the fantasy nation of Palaliku was minted by hand from 10 gauge .999 fine silver wire containing 4.4 grams of silver.  The wire was bent in half, stamped with a Maliku legend, then counterstamped with a Palaliku legend.  Only 66 pieces were issued.  It is a highly unusual coin based on the bent silver Larin (also known as fish hook money). This type of money originated in Persia and nations such as the Maldives Islands, Ceylon (Now Sri Lanka) and varies entities in India released such coins from about the 11th to the 17th century.
